Matthew 28:19-20: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
In 2020, I desired to draw closer to God and pray concerning my purpose. I had a lot of questions, uncertainties, and I needed to hear from God. After a while, I realized that that was God's way of calling me to birth my purpose. He started showing me my insecurities, and areas in my life that needed to be healed. Today, I would like to share with you what I learnt about our purpose as christians.
What is our purpose as christians?
Our ultimate purpose as Christians is to "Go" and make disciples, and all Christians have this mandate. There are several ways God can call us to fulfil our ultimate purpose of "going" and it's usually manifested through different assignments. Our assignment is the vehicle God uses to send us out to make disciples. Your "assignment" can be as a father, mother, wife, husband, doctor, or a farmer.
What does our purpose entail?
Our purpose is not about us, it is always bigger than us, and it is about service. We are called to serve just like Jesus came to serve us. Therefore, we are sent to the world through a vehicle (assignment) that started as a desire to fulfil God's ultimate purpose here on earth (make disciples). And the truth is, some of us are working in our assignment and are unaware of it. Maybe, God has strategically placed you in that office you dislike so much to plant seeds in the lives of your colleagues.
The Importance of our Agreement
God wants to do things through us but we have to come into agreement with Him. Our assignment may vary at different times of our lives, that's why God is interested in our agreement. Because, when we come into agreement, we become interested in our ultimate purpose and not just our assignment. The difference is that, when we agree to God's ultimate purpose, we become aware that even if our assignment changes we are still in agreement with our ultimate purpose and we do not place our identity on our assignment.
Understanding How Some Desires reveals our purpose
We also need to understand that some of our unvarying desires may be our vehicle to fulfilling our ultimate purpose. In the beginning of this, I wrote about having a strong desire to start praying for my purpose. I could not shake it off, I would wake up and think about it, I had an urge for something deeper. I realized that there was more to why I am here on earth, I knew I am special and I am called for such a time. I am fruitful, and God had planted a seed in my heart to seek deeper revelations. Those desires that we are not able to shake off, your desire to become a father or whatever career you may desire to be in, may be your vehicle of going forth. So, we must not undermine our desires. It could be the Holy Spirit revealing what God wants you to come into agreement with. For example, my "Go" now is writing, this may not always be my assignment, God could instruct me in my next season that my "Go" is marriage and motherhood. I must therefore be sensitive to God's leading and be in agreement with my next assignment. We must also not be distracted or consumed by our purpose that it replaces our relationship with God. Because, whenever we do so, we begin to feel overwhelmed in our place of assignment.
Some of us have been pregnant for years, we were meant to birth our purpose a long time ago, but we are sitting in disobedience. Some, are using the platform God has given them for other purposes contrary to the reason God gave them that platform. Take me for example, I had been pregnant with this since 2020 but I only birth it in 2022. Who knows maybe my pruning and preparation stage was suppose to only take a few months. But I extended it, do not be like me!
You are the source of someones' encounter with God, your assignment is meant to plant seeds in the lives of others, to make disciples and to be a disciple of God.
I pray that you begin to partner with God to fulfil your assignment.

I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
