Purpose II

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Zechariah 4:10: "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand".

Last week, we learnt what our ultimate purpose on earth is, and that our purpose is usually fulfilled through various assignments. We also learnt that we must be sensitive to God's leading, so that we do not make our assignment an idol or let it replace our personal relationship with God. Today, we will learn about the different stages involved in fulfilling our purpose as christians.

How do we fulfill our purpose?

In order to fulfil our purpose, we must realize that God will always Prune, Prepare, and Position us. This is why our waiting season is very important, because that's where God prunes our desires, prepares us to "Go", and then positions us to make an impact and be fruitful in our assignment.

What is the Pruning stage?

Pruning is the process of removing damaged, dead, and competing branches. This is a vital stage because every branch that is not fruitful, God takes away, and any branch that is fruitful, He prunes. Pruning can feel like God poking you, and He does this to reveal areas of your life that needs healing. Is there an area in your life that you feel keeps repeating itself?. But you can't understand why it keeps recurring and you feel like you are stuck. God is trying to bring that area to your attention so you can finally admit that you are struggling and ask Him for help. He wants you to acknowledge that insecurity and bring it to Him for healing, because you cannot take that to where you are going. God wants to heal those hidden traumas so that it does not take you out in your place of assignment.

What is the Preparation Stage?

I like to call this the middle stage, you know, that stage where you feel like you have no one else to turn to but God? that's what the preparation stage looks like.

A major reason why God prepares us ahead, is because our purpose comes with more responsibilities. Remember when the israelites entered the promise land and they still needed to fight the giants in the land? We will also be required to fight in our place of assignment. The word ''Fight'' signifies different things, it could mean fight to resist pride, fight to continue to work in obedience with God, fight to be able to face criticism, fight against people-pleasing or even fight to remain disciplined and consistent in our place of assignment.

God will not allow us go into our assignment when we still have so much baggage that is weighing us down. That does not mean we would be perfect, No! it just means we become aware of ourselves and the need to always trust God. We become aware that God is more interested in developing the fruits of the Spirit in us and making us more like Him.

I recognize that sometimes being in the middle stage is difficult because we feel pressed from all sides, but we must remember that we have a Father that is always with us and everything he does, he does it for our own good.

How does God position us?

When the time is right, God positions us in our place of assignment and gives us instructions on how to be productive. Your place of assignment may be different from mine but our ultimate purpose which is to make disciples is the same. As I stated previously, my place of assignment is right here, yours maybe on another social media platform, at your office, church, school, hospital, orphanage. There is simply no limitation to where God can place us. He may even move you to another city because that's where your assignment is. But, no matter where we are positioned, we must remember the reason why we are there and who placed us there.

Today, I pray that we become aware and sensitive to God's leading, I pray that we patiently sit at His feet to await His instructions. I pray for God's grace on each, and every one of us to be productive and fruitful in our place of assignment. In Jesus name, Amen.

Salvation Prayer: If you stumbled on this blog and you do not know this "God" I write about, but you feel a leading in your spirit to know more. Well, Welcome! God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.

Congratulations, the Bible tells us that every time someone gives their life to God, there is a celebration in heaven over that person, you are loved and celebrated at this moment and forever. Amen!
