Purpose IV - Pain into Purpose

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Romans 8;28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Proverbs 19: 21 Many are the plans in a person's heart but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails

As humans, we experience pain at different times of our lives, it could be as a result of death either physically or metaphorically or even as a result of unmet expectations. But, as we grow older we become accustomed to how to deal with our pain.

How does God use Our Pain?

God uses our greatest pain to walk us into our purpose because that's when we are at our weakest, and when we are weak, that is when God can work best in our lives, because that's when we will fully surrender to Him.

As christians, whatever pain we experience, God wants to use it as a weapon that strengthens us, but we will have to be willing to allow Him do so. The bible tells us that our time here on earth will not be rosy, we will go through trials, tests, and tribulations, but God has assured us that we will be victorious, because He will always be with us.

Bringing our pain to God

God will require our obedience to bring our pain to Him, talk to Him, pour out our heart to Him. Yes, He knows what you are going through but He wants you to come to Him and talk to Him. Remember that is what builds your relationship with Him. We should not be afraid to speak freely about how we feel. God is not ashamed or angry with us over our past, or our mistakes. Rather, He wants to use whatever pain we experience to birth our purpose.

When we feel empty, God will fill us up with His purpose. Take Moses for example, every time he revealed his barriness, God revealed His glory through him.

If you remember my story from "Purpose" you would recall that I mentioned a season where God was calling me to draw closer. I should also mention that a year prior, I had an experience that caused me pain, and that was truly what ushered me into seeking God consistently. I became totally dependent on Him, because I needed Him to help me deal with the pain I felt. Unknown to me that, God knew that the pain was the beginning of me embracing my purpose. Remember, God is attached to our weaknesses, so at the very point of my weakness, He strengthened me and walked with me to where I am today, and is still walking with me, because He knew my abilities even when I didn't.

An important point to take away from this is, I was willing to take my pain to God. We must remember that we serve a gentle God. He will not force us to trust Him with our pain. But when we bring our pain to Him, we show that we trust Him and that we are fully surrendered to Him. Our posture changes, and we substitute our will for God's will. We become thirsty for the things of God and we are eager to please Him. Our heart posture reveals that we are willing to partner with God, and our agreement begins our journey of revealing, and fulfilling our ultimate purpose here on earth.

How do we bring our pain to God?

So what do we have to do? FEEL, Feel that pain, do not suppress it, because you will only be giving it power. God wants us to understand how we feel, learn from our mistakes, and move ahead because whatever pain we feel or have felt, if we submit it to God, He will use it to make us better, stronger and wiser! we are not meant to deal with the pain alone, we have a heavenly father willing to be by our side if we choose to trust Him.

I Pray that you trust, and surrender whatever pain you may have suppressed to God.

God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.
