Spirituality

Updated: Feb 4, 2023

Ephesians 6:11: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rules of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

Peter 5:8-9: Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

We are spirit beings, our spirit and flesh are two distinct beings. Our spirit needed a flesh to dwell on earth. So our flesh became a vessel for our spirit on earth. However, our flesh is constantly at war with our spirit because the former was born into sin.

Most of our battles are spiritual, i.e it begins in the spirit before it manifests here on earth(physical). Most of us, call these battles spiritual warfare. Hence, the bible has told us that we do not war against this physical world and we have to take authority in the spiritual realm and strengthen our spirit man.

How do we win spiritual warfare?

By praying to God and Fasting:

Prayer is our channel of communication with God. It is also how we build our relationship with God. When we pray, we bring our petitions to God and seek His will for our lives. Also, we are encouraged to take communions(eating bread and drinking wine which represents the blood and flesh of Jesus Christ) which signifies our fellowship with God.

Whenever we dedicate time to fast and pray, we are starving our flesh, and strengthening our spirit. This is why we must focus on what edifies our spirit and not our flesh.

The word of God:

God has given us authority, He has given us the power, the sword (word of God) to fight all spiritual battles. As christians, if we are unaware that everything happens in the spirit realm before it manifests in the physical, then we will be at a disadvantage. When we study the word of God, meditate, and memorize it. We are able to fight back whenever the enemy comes to tempt us.

Scriptures to fight spiritual warfare

Romans 16:20: ''And the God of peace shall bruise satan under your feet.

2 kings 6:16: the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

2 Kings 6:16: and he answered fear not: for thy that be with us are more than they that be with them.

Micah 5:9: "thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

Isaiah 41:10: "Fear thou not, for I am with thee: be not dismayed for I am thy God I will strengthen thee, yea I will help thee, yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness

Psalm 23:4: Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

We must take authority in the spirit and stop fighting the physical world alone. It is important for us to take care of our spirit man as much as we do our physical. Since our flesh is just a vessel, and this world is just a temporary home, i.e we will not be here forever. Our flesh will decay, and our spirit will remain and live on. That is why we must strengthen our spirit daily. Why ignore what is eternal for what is temporary?

I am also reminded of those who may have been fighting some battles for a long time, I want to encourage you with this story in the bible, when angel Gabriel told Daniel that he was resisted by a demon called "the prince of Persia" until Archangel Michael came to his assistance. So we learn that angels and demons fight spiritual battles over us, and nations, and demons resist the angels from doing God's instructions. I want to remind you that even before we pray for something, God already has the answer. He either tells us yes, no (because he has better), or wait, it is not the right time. So while you are praying and waiting, be reminded of this story that angels are fighting for you.

We need to remember whatever battle we are fighting, is not only about us. We must fight to overcome for ourselves and our descendants.

I pray that God ministers to our hearts today and open our minds to understand beyond the ordinary.

God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:

I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.

Congratulations, the Bible tells us that every time someone gives their life to God, there is a celebration in heaven over that person, you are loved and celebrated at this moment and forever. Amen!
