Will You Do Me A Favor?
Updated: Jan 25
1 Samuel 12:24: Only fear the Lord and serve him fearfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.
Micah 6: 8: He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God
Today, yet another of my prayers has been answered by God. I am alive, and God has sustained me. He is always exceeding my requests, and I am always asking for more, and more. So, I stopped for a moment and thought, do I also answer all that God is asking of me? or am I just a taker in this relationship? I mean, a relationship should be about give, and take. No one would want to be in a relationship where the other person continuously takes, and never gives; that's a parasitical relationship. And we forget this sometimes as believers. We defend this by saying well, I live a holy life, I do not smoke, drink, engage in sexual immorality, I pay my tithe, and love my neighbours. But these are just the bare minimum, and we must remember we are not doing God a favor by doing so, it is for our own good.
We need to grow, and ask ourselves if God can trust us with the riches of this world, would you be a vessel or a reserve? - can God trust you to help the poor? can He trust you to win souls for His Kingdom? can He trust you to serve someone below you without you getting prideful?
For example, I remember when God instructed me to start this blog, He had furnished me with a whole book filled with words but I had so many reasons explaining why I was not good enough.
Do not give excuses like me as to why you cannot be used by God, because He equips whoever He calls! just take the first step, and He will hold your hand throughout the journey.
Some of us do not even want to be still, and listen to what He is saying. We are so quick to dismiss God's instructions, we turn our prayer time into me-time, we forget it's a relationship. You can not just drop your prayer requests and leave without asking God if He has something to tell you or listen to Him. We are even bold enough to pray selfish prayers, like - God make me rich, give me influence but we have no desire to use that to bring glory to God.
God wants us to grow up and pray beyond our selfish needs; can He trust that you will remain faithful after He blesses you? will you still value your relationship with Him once you receive your blessings? will you still be faithful even if God does not do anything else for you? if the last thing you asked Him for is the last thing He will ever does for you, will you still do Him a favor if He calls you?
As we all ponder on this, I pray that we a patient to listen and follow God's directions. IJN, AMEN.
Salvation Prayer: If you stumbled on this blog and you do not know this "God" I write about, but you feel a leading in your spirit to know more. Well, Welcome! God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:
Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.
Congratulations, the Bible tells us that every time someone gives their life to God, there is a celebration in heaven over that person, you are loved and celebrated at this moment and forever. Amen!
