Detach Yourself

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Job 11:14 - If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

It is easier to get attached to some habits and harder to detach ourselves, especially when we make those habits our identity. As stated in the previous blog “it will take some time”, when we come to Christ we do not immediately get detached from those habits. However, this doesn't mean work is not required. While the Holy Spirit directs us, we must also be willing to obey and do the work.

As christians, we must search all areas of our lives for any door(s) we might have left open for the devil to come in. An example is unforgiveness, holding a grudge against someone can hinder our prayers. Even the bible says that if we have anything against someone, we must reconcile with them before bringing our offering. Also, the Lord's prayer says "forgive my sin as I forgive those who have sinned against me". I remember when I wanted to give a sacrificial offering and the Holy Spirit instructed me to go and message someone I had in my mind before paying my offering. He said my unforgiveness will hinder my offering from being acceptable. I'm using unforgiveness as an example because it is something we have all struggled with, but we must learn how to detach ourselves.

Maybe it's not unforgiveness, may be its gossiping, lust, envy, wickedness, hatred, no matter what it is, we must detach ourselves. We have to be willing to submit our lives to God and detach ourselves from any habit that is contrary to the fruits of the spirit. However broken you may think you are, however far away you may feel you have drifted from God, you can always find your way back to Him. We must not feel condemned or beat ourselves up. All we need to do is to repent and go back to God.

I pray that we submit our ways to God and truly surrender those habits that are contrary to the fruits of the S pirit. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Salvation Prayer: If you stumbled on this blog and you do not know this "God" I write about, but you feel a leading in your spirit to know more. Well, Welcome! God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.

Congratulations, the Bible tells us that every time someone gives their life to God, there is a celebration in heaven over that person, you are loved and celebrated at this moment and forever. Amen!
