Void Unchecked

1 Peter 5:7: "Casting all your care upon him, He cares for you."

A void is a completely empty space or an open space. When there is an empty space in any area of our lives, we must be cautious on how we fill it.

As Christians, we must take an inventory of our lives to determine the empty areas. And when we do so, we must submit those areas to God. If we do not, we leave it open to the devil to torment us or we begin to self-medicate. A void begins with an unchecked emotion or suppressed pain. Whenever we experience something that causes us immense pain, if we do not fill it with God's love, it will continue to bleed. The pain is not necessarily the problem but how we deal with it determines the outcome. The most common way a person deals with an unchecked void is to self-medicate.

What does self-medication mean?

Self-medication is when we try to fill any void with something or someone other than God. It could be a relationship, career, or even harmful substances. Whatever it may be, when we do not go to the right source to fill us up, we will always still feel empty. Then, it becomes a vicious circle where we begin to look for joy, peace, and love in different things that can never sustain us. But only provide temporary releases. In the long run, it becomes an addiction.

An example, a void could be caused by abandonment or rejection. Someone that was abandoned by their parent at a very young age or rejected by someone they loved, will likely have a void in their life. Especially, when they begin to internalize, suppress or hide the pain caused by the abandonment or rejection. They may try to numb the pain the best way they can but it will always manifest in different ways. It may even leads to them distancing themselves from God because they may feel unworthy. This is why we must always find the root cause of whatever pain we feel and submit it to God.

I pray for God's grace to help us identify areas where we may be unknowingly bleeding. I pray for restoration and peace for anyone experiencing any pain or hardship. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Salvation Prayer: If you stumbled on this blog and you do not know this "God" I write about, but you feel a leading in your spirit to learn more. Well, Welcome! God loves you and has led you here for a reason. If you desire to build a relationship with Him, the first step is to say this prayer below:

Lord Jesus, I come today as a sinner.
I know that I have turned away from You several times.
Today, I confess and repent of all my sins,
I believe You died for me and rose again,
I ask that Your precious Blood purify my life.
I ask that You change me, renew me and lead me.
Become my Lord and personal Savior.
Now, I am yours and I am Born Again.
Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen.

Congratulations, the Bible tells us that every time someone gives their life to God, there is a celebration in heaven over that person; you are loved and celebrated at this moment and forever. Amen!
